Avenue Services aims to provide websites that are accessible and usable by the widest possible audience.

We strive to ensure that people of all abilities and needs can access the information we provide online via a variety of browsers and technologies.

  • Safari

Why do I need JavaScript and how do I enable it?

JavaScript is a common computer language that improves the operation of our website across different browsers and platforms. JavaScript also assists with design elements to make the page more attractive and the site, as a whole, easier to navigate.

If you already have JavaScript enabled but it is not recognised, try clearing the browser cache (view instructions on how to do this) or refreshing the page.

For further help and information on enabling JavaScript in your browser, please visit: https://www.enable-javascript.com

Screen size and colour

Our websites can be viewed on a range of different screen sizes and can be changed to suit each user. To help people find information more easily, our websites have a search facility and sitemap, as well as a number of colour and graphic-based navigational cues.

Controlling website text and colours

You can specify in your browser the web page font sizes, styles and colours of the foreground and background displayed on your computer screen.

This is useful for those:

  • With impaired vision
  • Needing a larger font size
  • Needing high-contrast colours

Help with downloading documents

Adobe Acrobat and PDF files

Adobe Acrobat is a popular document exchange medium. It works on the principle that documents produced in most software packages can be transformed into a .PDF file (the Adobe Acrobat format) and then read by the free reader package available from Adobe called Adobe Acrobat Reader. A key advantage is that it preserves all the formatting of the original file, including images, font and layout.

The PDF files on our website are downloadable across all browsers, but cannot be viewed in IE8.

If you use IE8, we recommend that you upgrade to IE9 or later to ensure you can access all the PDFs on our website.

To read the documents you must first download the reader software from the Adobe Website.

Adobe Acrobat Reader as a helper application

You can add Acrobat Reader as a helper application to your browser so that it will launch automatically when you access a PDF file online.

Access Adobe

If you have a visual impairment you can find more information on accessibility and PDF files by visiting the Access Adobe Website.
